Andrea has a PhD in environmental sciences with expertise in resilience and sustainability. Her experience and interests lie in providing societies and businesses with the means and opportunities to durably develop within their natural environment.
Andrea has field experience gained in Tanzania, Uganda, Australia and Europe as well as an array of quantitative and analytical skills. She utilizes her unique skill-set that brings together mathematical modeling, data analysis, complex systems’ analysis and strong communication skills.
Professional skills include mathematical modeling; time-series analysis; complex systems’ analysis; resilience; fisheries sciences; coral reef research; limnology. Andrea has published her work in reports and journal articles, she has presented her work at numerous conferences, prepared and given courses and lectures in both academic and professional settings.
Language skills: Fluent English, French and Swedish. Knowledge of German, Dutch, Italian, Swahili. Andrea is currently learning Portuguese (intermediate).
Since 2014: Andrea works with the Stockholm Resilience Centre on the Planetary Boundaries Research Network (http://www.pb-net.org/).
2012-2014: Collaborated on the Baltic Ecosystem Adaptive Management Project (http://www.su.se/ostersjocentrum/english/beam/about-beam).
2008-2012: Carried out her PhD under the SEDEC (disentangling Social and Ecological Drivers of Change in Lake Victoria) project. The project was a collaboration between Wageningen University (Netherlands) and the Tanzanian Fisheries Research Institute (Tafiri).
